Universal Studios Orlando
Months ago, it was reported that Universal Studios Orlando was to close their “Woody Woodpecker’s Kid-Zone” themed-land at their main park for some new offerings. For a while, it was speculated that this land could be re-themed to DreamWorks Animation, Illumination, or Nintendo. Recently, it has officially been confirmed by Universal that this land will be re-themed to DreamWorks Animation and will open in 2024.
Let’s get into it!
According to Universal Studios Orlando, the themed land based on DreamWorks Animation’s most popular IPs will open in 2024, replacing “Woody Woodpecker’s Kid-Zone” prior to the opening of Universal’s Epic Universe in 2025.
DreamWorks Animation is behind projects like the “Shrek,” “Madagascar,” “Kung Fu Panda” and “Trolls” franchises, “Gabby’s Dollhouse” among others. Characters from all of those popular franchises will be featured in the brand new four acre themed land.
This announcement comes shortly after NBCUniversal announced the opening of a family-friendly theme park in Frisco, Texas based on Universal’s popular kids & family IPs from DreamWorks Animation and Illumination.
Unfortunately, no other details have been revealed on the attractions or entertainment that will be featured in the area, but I will keep you up-to-date as soon as I find out!
