Each year, major film studios such as Marvel, Warner Bros, DC, Paramount and many others have participate with engaging panels on upcoming projects, live Q&A sessions, and amazing experiences! Marvel Studios has attended almost every year, but it seems like this year Marvel Studios will not be present at this year’s event.
Let’s get into it!
San Diego Comic-Con International, also known as SDCC, takes place annually in San Diego, California and is an event where major film studios and brands get to promote their upcoming products based on comic book adaptations.
At this event, fans from all over the world could shop from a variety of brands on the main floor, visit Q&A panels or studio presentations, or even look at some neat displays wearing their favorite character costumes!
This year’s event will be slightly different as one of the major studios, Marvel Studios, will still be attending but will not have a Hall H presentation filled with enthusiasm that they’re known for. Marvel typically attends the event each year to promote upcoming projects, however, it seems like they have opted out this year due to the writer’s strike and current production delays.
It is important to note that Marvel Studios isn’t the only major studio to opt out this year as — Universal, Sony, Netflix, and Warner Bros. Discovery’s HBO have also decided to pull their presentations, with Warner Bros. still deciding whether they’re attending the event or not.
It is disappointing that Marvel will be skipping its presentation this year, however due to the current writer’s strike and production pause on several projects such as “Thunderbolts,” “Wonder Man,” “Daredevil: Born Again,” and “Blade,” it makes sense to skip the presentation. Despite this sad news, I am hoping that just like last year, Marvel Studios will change their mind and still put together some kind of presentation for its fans. With footage from “Loki” season two, “Echo,” and “The Marvels” or casting news for the “Fantastic Four” and “Blade,” I feel like Marvel could still pull off a pretty good presentation.
