Earlier last year, Disney finally opened the long-awaited Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser experience, which aimed to increase capacity at the Walt Disney World Resort and expand interest in the parks based on popular IPs. However, today, it has been confirmed that the short-lived attraction will be closing permanently this fall.
Let’s get into it!
When Disney first announced plans for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge for Hollywood Studios many years ago, several attractions, shops and restaurants were planned, however, only two attractions and two building experiences were made available when the land opened at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World in 2019. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is loosely inspired by the Star Wars rapidly expanding universe created by George Lucas, and is set during the events of the First Order (the most recent Star Wars film trilogy). The addition of the Galactic Starcruiser has been it’s latest addition.
Most recently, Disney finally opened the long-awaited Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel in 2022, which was marketed as a ‘2-day experience for the entire family.’ However, many months ago, the attraction was rated poorly by guests, resulting in the scale-back of reservation availability for the attraction via the parks websitescale-back of reservation availability for the attraction per the parks website.
Finally, today the Walt Disney Company has confirmed that the short-lived attraction will be closing its doors this fall, with no plans to return. It is such a shame to see an attraction of this kind go, but it may be for the best – who knows!
