
This week, CinemaCon returned in Las Vegas, Nevada with several major film studios presenting upcoming film previews to guests and showcased new announcements as well. Today, I will be reviewing every announcement made at CinemaCon. Get ready, the announcements are pretty exciting if you are a fan of films.
Let’s get into it!
5-Day Recap:
Day 1:
- Kraven the Hunter (October 6, 2023) will be Rated R.
- Bad Boys 4 officially announced at Sony.
Day 2:
- Beetlejuice 2 is officially in the works at Warner Bros.
- The Conjuring: The Last Rites is in the works at WB.
- Final Destination 6 is confirmed, in the works at WB.
- Warner Bros. is ‘no longer interested’ in direct-to-video films.
Day 3:
- 20th Century Studios’ True Love is now titled The Creator (September 29, 2023).
- Disney’s Wish (November 22, 2023) Chris Pine casting announced.
- First look at 20th Century Studios’ upcoming Alien film.
Day 4:
- First-look at Universal and Blumhouse’s upcoming film, The Exorcist: Believer (October 13, 2023).
- New The Exorcist trilogy officially announced at Blumhouse Productions.
- Paramount announced Transformers One animated film (July 19, 2024).
- First-look at the upcoming The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants! (May 23, 2025).
- First-look at the upcoming animated Avatar: The Last Airbender film (October 10, 2025).
Day 5:
- No announcements.
Sony Pictures
Movie Previews:
- On April 24, Sony kicked off the panel by hyping up fans with the announcement that the upcoming film, Kraven the Hunter (October 6, 2023) would be Rated R. Guests who attended the event were surprised with new trailers for The Machine (May 26, 2023), Insidious: The Red Door (July 7, 2023), Gran Turismo (August 11, 2023) and The Equalizer 3 (September 1, 2023). Guests were also shown exclusive clips from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (June 2, 2023) and Dumb Money (October 20, 2023), as well as a first look at their upcoming rom-com film, Anyone But You (TBA). At the event, Sony also showcased the upcoming film, Naploeon (November 22, 2023), which will release in theaters and on Apple TV+ this Thanksgiving.
Titles Announced:
- On Monday, Sony started off strong by completely wowing fans all around the world as they announced the filming of Bad Boys 4, however, no release date has been announced. Not much is known about the sequel as of right now, but hopefully we will find out some more news soon!
Warner Bros. Pictures
Movie Previews:
- On April 25, Warner Bros. Pictures held their upcoming theatrical slate previews after a successful first day at CinemaCon. Guests who attended the event were surprised with new trailers for The Flash (June 16, 2023), Barbie (July 21, 2023), The Meg 2: The Trench (August 4, 2023), Blue Beetle (August 18, 2023), The Nun 2 (September 8, 2023), Dune: Part 2 (November 3, 2023), Wonka (December 15, 2023), Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom (December 20, 2023) and The Color Purple (December 25, 2023).
Titles Announced:
- At the hour long event, Warner Bros. took to stage and announced some new films that are currently in the works. On Tuesday, Warner Bros. Pictures executives showcased a sizzle reel of upcoming films in the works featuring logos, among those titles were Beetlejuice 2, The Conjuring: The Last Rites, and Final Destination 6. Although, no official release date has been announced.
Other Announcements:
- Warner Bros. Discovery executives, including WBD CEO David Zaslav, shared that Warner Bros. is no ‘longer interested in creating direct to streaming movies.’
Walt Disney Studios
Movie Previews:
- On April 26, Walt Disney Studios held their upcoming theatrical slate previews after two successful days at CinemaCon. Guests who attended the event were surprised with exclusive clips from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5, 2023), The Little Mermaid (May 26, 2023), The Boogeyman (June 2, 2023), Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (June 30, 2023), Haunted Mansion (July 28, 2023) and Wish (November 22, 2023), as well as new trailers for A Haunting in Venice (September 15, 2023), The Marvels (November 11, 2023) and Next Goal Wins (November 27, 2023). Guests attending the event were shown a 20-minute preview of Pixar’s upcoming film, Elemental (June 16, 2023) and a first-look at 20th Century Studios’ upcoming untitled Alien film (TBA).
Titles Announced:
- At the hour long event, 20th Century Studios and Regency Enterprises announced their new film, True Love, now titled The Creator, will release in theaters on September 29, 2023. In addition, Disney executives also announced the casting of Chris Pine for the upcoming Disney animated film, Wish (November 22, 2023).
Universal Pictures
Movie Previews:
- On April 27, Universal Pictures held their upcoming theatrical slate previews after three successful days at CinemaCon. Guests who attended the event were surprised with exclusive clips from Fast X (May 19, 2023), Oppenheimer (July 21, 2023) and Migration (December 22, 2023). Guests attending the event also got an exclusive first-look at The Fall Guy (March 1, 2024) and Wicked (November 27, 2024).
Titles Announced:
- At the hour long event, Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions announced their new untitled Exorcist film, now titled The Exorcist: Believer, will release in theaters on October 13, 2023. In addition to first-look footage of the new Exorcist film, Universal and Blumhouse executives confirmed two more Exorcist films are in the works, making The Exorcist: Believer, the first film of the trilogy. Universal Pictures also confirmed that Fast X part 2, aka Fast 11 will release in 2025.
Focus Features
Movie Previews:
- On April 27, Focus Features held their upcoming theatrical slate previews after three successful days at CinemaCon. Guests who attended the event were surprised with exclusive clips from Asteroid City (June 16, 2023), My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3 (September 8, 2023) and The Holdovers (November 10, 2023).
Titles Announced:
- At the hour long event, Universal Pictures and Focus Features announced their film, Drive Away Dolls, will release in theaters on September 22, 2023.
Paramount Pictures
Movie Previews:
- On April 27, Paramount Pictures held their upcoming theatrical slate previews after three successful days at CinemaCon. Guests who attended the event were surprised with exclusive clips from Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (July 12, 2023), Killers of the Flower Moon (October 6, 2023), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (August 4, 2023) and A Quiet Place: Day One (March 8, 2024). and Migration (December 22, 2023). Guests attending the event also got an exclusive first-look at The Fall Guy (March 1, 2024) and Wicked (November 27, 2024).
Titles Announced:
- At the hour long event, Paramount Pictures announced their new Transformers animated film, is now titled Transformers One and will release in theaters on July 19, 2024. In addition, fans attending the event also got a first-look at the upcoming animated Avatar: The Last Airbender film (October 10, 2025), and a first-look and title of the upcoming animated SpongeBob film, The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants! (May 23, 2025). Lastly, fans attending the event got a first-look of the upcoming Bob Marley biopic, Bob Marley: One Love, releasing in theaters on January 12, 2024.
Lionsgate
Movie Previews:
- On April 27, Lionsgate held their a upcoming theatrical slate previews after four successful days at CinemaCon, rounding up this year’s event once more. Guests who attended the event were surprised with exclusive clips from The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes releasing in theaters on November 17, 2023. Guests attending the event were shown an exclusive preview of Lionsgate’s upcoming film, Joy Ride (July 7, 2023), during the the screening event.
As you can see, this year’s CinemaCon was definitely a success!
