Disney Parks
Disney Parks around the world are insanely popular, and recently have been becoming even more popular as they become a part of our culture. Disney has many great IPs up their sleeves from Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and more – that they could use in their theme parks. The limits are endless! Today, I will be reviewing what I predict will be announced for the Disney Parks around the world at the D23 Expo 2022!
Let’s get into it!
UPDATES!
These are the current or upcoming projects that I expect Disney to provide updates on at the 2022 D23 Expo panels. These Disney Parks include, Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, Shanghai Disneyland and more. Down below I will be listing the attractions I believe will be showcased. Let’s take a look.
EPCOT Transformation – Walt Disney World
The beginning of the historic EPCOT transformation was officially announced in 2017, with phase 1 finally completed by mid-2022, and many projects paused indefinitely or cancelled entirely. However, over the past few months, fans have received some exciting development updates such as the CommuniCore Hall & Plaza replacement for what would’ve been the celebration center. I expect new concept art for phase 2, including the EPCOT Gardens, Dreamer’s Point and the CommuniCore experiences to be revealed.
Avengers Campus – Disney’s California Adventure
First announced in 2017, Avengers Campus phase 1 opened at the Disneyland Resort in 2020, with the Quinjet attraction delayed. No further details about this attraction have been revealed, but hopefully new details on this upcoming attraction will be revealed with a possible release window.
Fantasy Springs – Tokyo Disney Sea
Officially titled “Fantasy Springs” in 2021, this new expansion to the Tokyo Disney Sea park will include lands themed to the popular franchises Frozen, Peter Pan and Tangled. Slated to open in fiscal 2023, no further details were announced by Disney since 2020. Tokyo Disney Sea isn’t operated by the Walt Disney Company, but is licensed to operate in Tokyo, so unfortunately, an update on this expansion seems unlikely.
Frozen-Themed Land – Disneyland Paris
Announced back in 2019, the Frozen themed land is inspired by the Tokyo version, but will be a bit smaller-scale to fit the capacity of the Walt Disney Studios Park. This full themed land will be dedicated to bringing Arendelle to life for fans from all around the world. This is just one of three versions globally. These versions include, Disneyland Paris, Hong Kong Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea, also rumored for Disneyland.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure – Disneyland & Walt Disney World
Announced in 2020, the iconic Splash Mountain attraction on both coasts of the United States will undergo a re-themed based on the animated film “Princess and the Frog.” The exterior will mainly stay the same, while the interior of the attraction is set to change more drastically. However, the Splash Mountain attraction in Japan will remain operating.

Stitch’s Great Escape Replacement – Disney’s Magic Kingdom
Stitch’s Great Escape in the Magic Kingdom closed in 2020 after many years of operation. The attraction originally operated as Alien Encounter, but was re-themed to Stitch’s Great Escape many years ago due to the extremely mature themes of the original. Stitch’s Great Escape finally closed a few years ago due to high maintenance and a low visitor count. No details on a replacement have been announced yet, however, a Wreck-It-Ralph attraction is rumored for this space.
Dino Rama Replacement – Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Ever since the not-so-popular Primeval Whirl attraction went extinct, not much more information on this land was provided by Disney. The company hasn’t publicly addressed this construction since it began, and no replacement has been announced. Rumored to be re-themed to Zootopia (currently being built at Shanghai Disneyland) or Indiana Jones.
Woody’s Round-up Rodeo BBQ – Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Tarzan’s Treehouse Replacement – Disneyland

Announced in 2022, the Tarzan’s Treehouse walk-through attraction at Disneyland was getting a re-theme according to some Disney officials. No official replacement has been announced, but its been heavily rumored that this attraction will be themed to Encanto.
Disney & Pixar Short Film Festival – EPCOT
Since all the shorts shown in this theater are now available on the Disney+ streaming service, it basically makes it inevitable for this attraction to close down. This attraction isn’t really popular, and has become a bit outdated over the past few years. I would expect Disney to make a closure announcement soon.
New Encanto Attraction – Walt Disney World
Mary Poppins Attraction
TRON: Lightcycle Run
Spaceship Earth Update
Announced along with the rest of the EPCOT expansion, the Spaceship Earth update was also indefinitely delayed due to the global pandemic. It is currently unknown if this project will return and be scaled-back, or if it will no longer be going forward.
