
This week, CinemaCon returned in Las Vegas, Nevada with several major film studios presenting upcoming film previews to guests and showcased new announcements as well. Today, I will be reviewing every announcement made at CinemaCon. Get ready, the announcements are pretty exciting if you are a fan of films.
Let’s get into it!
Sony Pictures
- Movie Previews – On April 25, Sony Pictures held their upcoming theatrical slate previews, opening CinemaCon 2022. Sony Pictures gave guests exclusive previews of Bullet Train (July 29, 2022) and Across the Spider-Verse (June 2, 2023).
- Titles Announced – On Monday, Sony started off strong by completely wowing fans all around the world. They announced El Muerto (January 12, 2024) and Beyond the Spider-Verse (March 29, 2024) as well as Venom 3 and Ghostbusters 4. Not much is known about the Venom of Ghostbusters sequels as of right now, but hopefully we will find out some more news soon!
Warner Bros. Pictures
- Movie Previews – On April 26, Warner Bros. Pictures held their upcoming theatrical slate previews after a successful first day at CinemaCon. Guests who attended the event were surprised with special previews of Black Adam (October 21, 2022), The Flash (June 23, 2022), Don’t Worry Darling (September 23, 2022) and Wonka (December 15, 2023).
- Titles Announced – At the hour long event, Warner Bros. took to stage and announced some new films are being added to the release schedule. On Tuesday, Warner Bros. Pictures announced that Coyote vs. ACME has been removed from the release schedule, with Barbie (July 21, 2023) scheduled to take its place. In addition, due to the success of The Batman, a new sequel, The Batman 2 is currently in development at the studio.
Walt Disney Studios
- Movie Previews – On April 27, the Walt Disney Studios held their upcoming theatrical slate previews at CinemaCon. Guests at the event got to see the first 3D trailer for Avatar 2 releasing in theaters worldwide on December 16, 2022. Guests who attended the previews also got a special first look at Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (May 6, 2022), Lightyear (June 17, 2022) and Amsterdam (November 4, 2022).
- Titles Announced – At the preview event, Disney announced the official titles for the untitled David O. Russell and Avatar sequel. Disney had revealed they will now be titled Amsterdam and Avatar: The Way of Water, both releasing worldwide later this year. Disney also announced that Avatar will re-release in theaters on September 23, 2022.
Universal Pictures
- Movie Previews – On April 27, Universal Pictures held their upcoming theatrical slate previews at CinemaCon. Guests at the event got to see a special screening of The Black Phone releasing in theaters worldwide on June 24, 2022 and trailer of Ticket to Paradise releasing in theaters on October 21, 2022. Guests who attended the event saw exclusive footage of Jurassic World: Dominion (June 10, 2022), Minions: The Rise of Gru (July 1, 2022), Nope (July 22, 2022), Bros (September 30, 2022) and She Said (November 18, 2022).
Focus Features
- Movie Previews – On April 27, Focus Features held their upcoming theatrical slate previews at CinemaCon right after Universal Pictures was finished. Guests got to see special looks at Downtown Abbey: A New Era (May 20, 2022), Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (July 15, 2022), Tár (October 15, 2022) and Violent Night (December 2, 2022).
Paramount Pictures
- Movie Previews – On April 28, Paramount Pictures held their upcoming theatrical slate previews at CinemaCon. Guests who attended the previews presentation first watched a special screening of Top Gun: Maverick (May 27, 2022). Guests also saw first looks of Babylon (December 25, 2022) and Mission: Impossible 7 (July 14, 2023). Additionally, some logos were also revealed for Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (March 3, 2023), Scream 6 (March 31, 2023), Transformers: Rise of the Beasts (June 9, 2023) and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Next Chapter (August 4, 2023).
- Titles Announced -At the preview event, Paramount announced the official title for the seventh and eighth Mission: Impossible films, as well as the title for the A Quiet Place spin-off. Paramount revealed the titles are now called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One (July 14, 2023), A Quiet Place: Day One (September 22, 2023) and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two (June 28, 2024).
Lionsgate
- Movie Previews – On April 28, Lionsgate closed CinemaCon 2022 with their upcoming theatrical slate previews for guests. Guests at CinemaCon saw previews of The Devil’s Light (October 28, 2022) and John Wick: Chapter 4 (March 24, 2023).
As you can see, this year’s CinemaCon was definitely a success!
